MEET CAROLINE NELSON
I am an artist, and have been since I was young. From crayons, to paintbrushes, to a picking up a camera after my first child was born, I have sought different mediums to document what is beautiful to me. When I discovered the beauty of storytelling photography–documenting real, honest, not-perfect, beautiful family life–I fell in love with it and haven’t looked back! This is what I am meant to photograph. My heart and soul are all in.
It is an honor to be invited into your home and be given a glimpse into your life for a day. We all know how quickly life changes, and I want to give you truly honest, authentic images that make you not only smile, but that make you remember what your day-to-day life looks like now and what it feels like right now. It is my job to give you photographs that speak to your soul, that represent what makes your family perfect to you.
Documentary family photography will be a good fit for you if:
You have a sense of humor when it comes to this parenting thing.
You are a person who keeps it real—your house may not look like a Pottery Barn ad, but you know your kids are not going to remember whether or not the house was always clean–you’re too busy making marshmallow and frosting art with your kids to stress over it!
You love that your kids still want to snuggle with you when they first wake up and know you’ll cry the day they don’t anymore.
You–or your spouse–hate getting all dressed up to pose for pictures.
Your favorite photos of your own childhood are the ones where you are with your family, in your home, just being together—and you want to preserve your own family’s history in the same way.
You value photography and want real, tangible photo books to pull off the shelf and flip through with your family in the years ahead.
If this sounds like you, please get in touch with me! YOU matter to me. Your family. Your story. I truly love documenting family life. Let’s not wait until next year to do this (because next year your youngest won’t be missing both her front teeth and your oldest will be heading off to college.) I can’t wait to meet you!
